At faculty there are several recognized mathematical schools not only in Kazakhstan and the CIS countries. Scientific work of the leading mathematicians of faculty are widely known in the mathematical world and make the significant contribution to development of mathematical science not only on republican, but also at the international level.
In 2012 the dean of faculty N.Zh. Dzhaychibekov is awarded with the state award "Ерен еңбегі үшін"
Pride of faculty and university is the winner of an award Moura of the American mathematical society, the head of the department of algebra and geometry, the doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, professor Ualbay Umirbayev. In 2009 professor U.U. Umirbayev who has solved one of the most intriguing mathematics problems known more than 40 years directed by the famous Japanese mathematician M. Nagata is awarded a high award – the State award of the Republic of Kazakhstan for work "Automorphisms and subalgebras of free algebras".
In 2007 for a cycle of work on a subject: "The spectral theory and its applications" (2007) professor, the doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, the academician NAS Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtarbay Otelbayev became the winner of the State award of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In 2004 professor N. Temirgaliev is awarded with the Silver medal of A. Baytursynov "For fruitful work in writing of the textbooks of new generation which are meeting modern standards of education and become the most demanded textbooks on natural disciplines".

In 2016 professor Oinarov R.O. has been awarded awards " Құрмет " Republic of Kazakhstan for merits in development of science of Republic of Kazakhstan.
In 2016 professor Oinarov R.O. became corresponding member NAS Republic of Kazakhstan.
In 2016 professor E.D. Nursultanov the owner of an award "An independent award in science and technology of Top Springer Author" awarded by the International publishing house Springer Nature together with JSC National Center of Scientific and Technical Information.
In 2017 professor N. Temirgaliev the owner of an award "An independent award in science and technology of Top Springer Author" awarded by the International publishing house Springer Nature together with JSC National Center of Scientific and Technical Information.
Professor E.D. Nursultanov is a winner of an award of K.I. Satbayev in the field of natural sciences for excellent scientific achievements.
Professors of faculty R. Oinarov, E.D.Nursultanov, N. Temirgaliyev, K.N. Ospanov in different years were owners of the state grant of Republic of Kazakhstan for achievements in the field of science.
Award of the State awards Republic of Kazakhstan of the last years to scientists-mathematicians of faculty confirms the high level of science at faculty and the international status of mathematical school of Kazakhstan.
All this has allowed to make significant progress:
− to concentrate powerful personnel potential at faculty;
− to begin creation of own schools of sciences;
− annual successful participation of students at the international and republican Olympic Games on mathematics;
− protection of master and doctoral dissertations in foreign partner higher education institutions;
− the edition of own international scientific magazine "Eurasian mathematical journal" in English which is included into Scopus base and Thomson of Reuter.
