The Mechanics and mathematics faculty functioned since 1962 as mathematical faculty in structure of the Tselinograd pedagogical university of S. Seyfullin (TsPI). After creation in 1996 of the Eurasian National University of L.N. Gumilyov on the basis of the Tselinograd teacher training college and Tselinograd engineering - construction institute the faculty of mathematics and information technologies was formed on December 24, 2002. In June, 2010 from faculty of mathematics and information technologies composition the Mechanics and mathematics faculty was selected.
At Mechanics and mathematics faculty 5 departments function:
• department of Fundamental mathematics;
• department of Algebra and geometry;
• department of the Higher mathematics;
• department of Mathematical and computer simulation;
• department of Mechanics.
At faculty preparation on three-level system is carried out:
Bachelor degree:
• 5B060100 – Mathematics (it is natural - the scientific direction);
• 5B010900 – Mathematics (the direction education);
• 5B060300 – Mechanics;
• 5B070500 – Mathematical and computer modelling.
Master studies:
• 6m060100-Matematics (it is natural - the scientific direction);
• 6M010900 – Mathematics (the direction education);
• 6M060300 – Mechanics;
• 6M070500 – Mathematical and computer modelling;
• 6M070500 – Mathematical and computer modelling (State program of industrial innovative development of the Republic of Kazakhstan)
Ph.D studies:

• 6D070500-Mathematical and computer modelling.
Coordination of the order for target preparation with regional higher education institutions and the direction of the request in Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan for placement of the target order in ENU of L.N. Gumilyov is carried out with: The KGU of E.A. Buketov, Zhetysuysky state university of I. Zhansugurov, the Kostanay state university of A. Baytursynov, the Taraz state university of M.H. Dulati.
Graduates of faculty work at research institutes, at the industrial enterprises and in banks, in laboratories and computer centers, at institutes, higher educational institutions, schools. They with success solve both theoretical, and application-oriented tasks, carry pedagogical operation. About a third of graduates annually enter the Master studies and continue to be engaged in scientific operation which purpose is preparation of the thesis.
Faculty of faculty: 17 doctors of science, professors, 69 candidates of science, associate professors and doctors of philosophy of Ph.D, two academicians of NAS RK (M. Otelbayev, R. Oynarov), two Winners of the state award RK (M. Otelbayev, U.U. Umirbayev), four Winners of the state scientific grants for the scientists and experts who made an outstanding contribution to development of science and technology (R. Oynarov, E.D. Nursultanov, N. Temirgaliyev, K.N. Ospanov), 14 owners of the state grant "The best teacher of higher education institution", the owner of the youth award "Дарын" in the field of science (A.M. Temirkhanova), the winner of the state grant for young scientists (K.R. Esmakhanova).
